Hello all you barbecue fanatics out there.  I would like to take a moment and tell you how much I have appreciated all the emails I have received since I retired this site.  I am divorced now, and after a few years of trying to keep it all together,  it was not to be.

I am in a new home now with my faithful dachshund; Ruby. I am still cooking as much as ever and have branched off into cheesecakes and desserts.  I still work everyday and answer emails everyday.

I do hope all of you are well and GOD is blessing you each and everyday.  Keep cooking and grilling and making folks happy with the results.

If there is a question you have, I will be happy to to answer anything that I can.

GOD Bless you,

BigIron

 Patience

Hey folks, the time has come to hang up my hat.  Lil’Iron and I have spent the better part of two years putting this site together.  It will still exist but in a different form.

I always wanted to share my favorite recipes and make it possible for anybody to get a professional result using their backyard smoker.

The fear of being redundant has come.

I can only show so many ways to do chickens, ribs and pork shoulders.  The videos on this site give you all the basics and a few tips.  I do hope you will use them if you need to and pass them on to friends and family.

I have had a great time and met many good people.  I will still answer all my emails and maybe from time to time put up something new I found.

Thank you all for your input and your friendship.

God Bless you,

BigIron

Well folks this weekend we did it.

Here at the BigIron we are at awe that the site passed 100,000 hits today.  I am so proud because who would have ever thought the site would have generated this much interest from a regular guy with a Char-Griller.

In celebration and in honor of Labor day I decided to buy a big ol’ honking piece of meat….A whole Arm Roast.

This was about 26-28 pounds…..to be honest I was in shock from the price and I tore the label off before I could check it.  The butcher told me but I forgot the exact weight……but hey, this was a special occasion so price be damned.

Lil’ Iron told me once, she never saw a Brink’s truck following a hearse to the cemetery…..so with that in mind, I bought it.

I thought it would be fun to give everyone a way to see this marvelous feast.  Click on the pictures below to see the full size….then prepare to be hungry!

Here is a shot of one slice of this Arm Roast. It is served on the largest restaurant platters we own.

I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.  Lil’ Iron and I sure do thank all of you for your support.

Have a great Labor Day,

BigIron

Well another year has gone by and I find myself another year older.  I have been blessed beyond my wildest dreams.

Do I have a load of money?  No.

Am I rich?  More than I could ever imagine.  This weekend will be great and full of my kind of fun.

I wanted to share a few bad photos of me, and some great ones of Ruby.

Hey folks.  Yes it has been awhile since I posted and I apologize for not keeping up.  To tell you the truth it has just been a madhouse getting Ruby used to a new home, school starting back and this darn midwest weather.

I am working on a copy of Maurice’s BBQ sauce and plan on posting it when I get it right.  The garden suffered over that past few weeks due to getting the BigIron re-shingled.  There was some damage to Lil’Iron’s beautiful peppers.  I am trying to use or dry as many as possible but I will end up losing a few.

On top of all this, I am in the middle of having reapirs done on my teeth.  I went for a checkup and found problems I didn’t even know I had.  Goes to show, nomatter how much you brush and floss trouble can pop-up and ruin a few weeks.  I plan to have “the tools of the trade” all fixed before Thanksgiving.  Who wants to crack a tooth on that weekend?

My Birthday is in a week or so and as I get older, things start to go south before you know it……..but the experience gained from age on the cooking front sure does make the food taste better.

My Mom sent me this Woolworth menu from the 50’s.  I thought you might find the prices pretty interesting too.  So here is a bit of nostalgia for you folks to ponder over…and if your old enough, you can remember these days with fondness.

I hope all is well in your neck of the woods.  Have a safe back to school and remember it won’t be long till Fall…..and ain’t that when smoked food taste the best?

Have a great week,

BigIron

This weekend was Ruby’s first session around the smoker.  She seemed to take to the process in between playing with Riley and getting spooked by unfamiliar sounds.

Lil’ Iron roasted a Turkey this weekend and Ruby also got her first taste of Thanksgiving in July……Lord help us, we might have created a monster.  🙂

I hope everyone had a great weekend and have a safe and wonderful week,
